The amount of data that your IXrouter uses is highly dependent on how and how much the IXrouter will be used.
Internet data usage
By default, an IXrouter uses a total of roughly 224-233 MB per month to maintain its secure connections. This can be reduced to 15-21 MB per month by disabling the VPN connection when you do not need it, which you can do remotely. When the VPN connection is disabled, HTTP and VNC services also will not work because they are dependent on the IXrouter's VPN connection.
Use of the IXrouter, like pushing new configurations, upgrading firmware, using the HTTP or VNC service, using Cloud Logging or Cloud Notify, establishing a VPN connection and downloading a new project to your machine, or other actions over the VPN connection, will result in additional data usage. This additional data usage cannot be estimated beforehand, because it is dependent on countless unknown factors.
Allowing LAN to WAN internet access may also result in additional data usage, because devices behind the IXrouter can then access the internet over the IXrouter's internet connection.
Are you looking to get a mobile data plan for your IXrouter 4G: on average a data plan of 1 GB is sufficient. As mentioned, it is still highly dependent on how you use it.
VPN data usage
VPN data is a part of the IXrouter's total internet data usage, explained above.
VPN data usage cannot be estimated beforehand. An individual IXrouter's VPN data usage can be viewed in the Cloud connection status component on Device pages in the Portal. The VPN data usage for all IXrouters in your IXON Cloud company collectively can be viewed at Admin > Usage.
The VPN data usage includes data over the VPN connection and the use of HTTP and VNC services. All other data does not travel over the VPN connection is therefore not included in the VPN data usage statistics.
Cloud Logging data usage
Cloud Logging data is a part of the IXrouter's total internet data usage, explained above.
Cloud Logging data usage cannot be accurately calculated beforehand. However, a general indication can be observed from our internal testing.
Internal test results
Any deviation in conditions will result in a different data usage. Internal testing was done with a total of 20 data tags, all with the same logging interval.1000 dps/hr = roughly 100 MB/month
5000 dps/hr = roughly 200 MB/month
20000 dps/hr = roughly 600 MB/month
